Coronado, Calif., Sept. 25 — Dr. Rebecca L. Ray, Ph.D., MasterCard Worldwide’s vice president and chief learning officer, has been named the 2008 Chief Learning Officer of the Year by Chief Learning Officer magazine.
Ray was recognized as the 2008 CLO of the Year for her achievement in implementing an innovative and effective suite of learning and talent programs and aligning it to overall business needs and objectives. She worked closely with her company’s executive leadership team to roll out employee development solutions that have positively impacted the workforce globally and at all levels.
The CLO of the Year award is given annually to the candidate who best exemplifies leadership qualities, creates the vision for change in his or her organization and adds value to the stakeholders. In addition to receiving the award, a special report supplement to the December issue of Chief Learning Officer magazine will feature Ray’s achievements, along with information on all the Learning In Practice award winners.
“The Learning In Practice awards were established to recognize transformational and visionary leaders in enterprise education,” said Norm Kamikow, president and editor in chief of Chief Learning Officer magazine. “A record number of top learning executives and solution providers were nominated by their peers this year. The winners are the industry leaders who truly champion innovation and transform it into learning and value for their organizations.”
The Learning In Practice Awards were announced today at a special awards ceremony during the Fall 2008 Chief Learning Officer Symposium held at the Hotel del Coronado in Coronado, Calif. The event brings together learning leaders from around the world to discuss innovative enterprise learning strategies and share best practices.
