This year marks the 10th anniversary of the magazine. And with the many changes that have occurred in the people management profession in the past decade, we felt it was appropriate to give the magazine a new look and feel.
In April 2005, Workforce Performance Solutions, the predecessor to Talent Management, launched with features on engagement, performance management and preparing for change. While those topics still resonate today, new subject areas have emerged in the human resources agenda.
HR analytics is now making waves, as our cover story
on Intuit shows. Companies are hiring scientists to mine data and provide decision-makers with never-before-seen insights. Recruiters are using new techniques and technologies to source and hire candidates. And the act of performance management has moved at some firms to ongoing, continuous feedback.
New topics aren’t the only thing you’ll notice. We’ve added front-of-book sections designed to provide you a more engaging reader experience. Our “Web Spotlight” section provides an overview of interesting blogs, videos and other Web-only content from TalentMgt.com.
“Data Point” culls a new and interesting workforce industry statistic or information graphic to provide
insight into an area of talent management. And we hope “Your Career” and “The Change-up” will help inspire you. Future issues will showcase additional features to help the modern-day talent manager stay connected with the industry.
We’ve also switched up the order of the magazine’s content. Our columnists now anchor their own section based on our tagline of “People. Practice. Insights.” In Diversity Executive issues, we’ve inserted a new feature called “Read & React,” allowing members of our online community to submit a short editorial and solicit reader feedback.
The magazine will also showcase updated designs, layouts and a new typeface courtesy of our top-notch art and production department.
While some things have changed, others will remain the same.
The magazine will still include a case study as its showcased feature, where we’ll continue to tell stories about some of the most interesting and transformative practices shaping talent management today.
Each issue will also have in-depth features with rigorous original reporting, thought leadership and attentive research analysis — from our editors and expert contributors made up of practitioners, researchers and other industry leaders.
Meanwhile, our Insight Q&A will keep highlighting more thought-provoking authors, academics and influential figures not only in HR but also in business and economics as well.
Furthermore, the Dashboard feature remains committed to delivering talent managers with the latest data-driven trends in the human capital industry, both from Talent Management’s own Human Capital Media Advisory Group, the magazine’s research arm, as well as contributions from external researchers.
But our work doesn’t end with the physical magazine.
TalentMgt.comcontinues to feature all of the content the magazine offers, in addition to exclusive Web-only stories and news items, including video interviews, commentary, blogs, newsletters and digital supplements. That’s in addition to the mobile app, which allows readers to access all of our content from anywhere there’s wireless coverage.
A new year often brings a renewed start. And even though
I am not one for making clichéd New Year’s resolutions, it feels good to start the year off on fresh footing.
The staff at Human Capital Media has worked diligently to bring you a new print magazine experience. We hope you like what you see.
And if you don’t, you know where to find us.
