CLO Symposium Focuses on Workforce Development as a Strategic Force
Learning executives to discuss turning broad visions for workforce development into action
Chicago, Sept. 4, 2013 — In a few weeks, hundreds of chief learning officers, business thought leaders, enterprise education innovators and human capital management practitioners from around the globe will convene in Rancho Mirage, Calif., for the Fall 2013 Chief Learning Officer Symposium. Hosted Sept. 30-Oct. 2 by Chief Learning Officer magazine at the Rancho Las Palmas Resort and Spa, the conference will afford attendees the opportunity to collaborate face-to-face on meeting the learning challenges of the 21st century workforce.
"This year's Symposium theme, 'Vision to Action: Learning's Strategic Force,' is especially on target," said Norm Kamikow, president and editor-in-chief of the Human Capital Media Group, which publishes Chief Learning Officer magazine. Taking a cue from the conference theme, this year's Fall Symposium sessions are designed to deliver both inspiring ideas and practical solutions for maximizing the impact of workforce development on organizational performance. During keynotes, panel discussions, "feet-on-the-ground" presentations from successful L&D practitioners and more than 30 workshops, attendees will explore the most effective ways to bridge the gap between broad visions for learning and day-to-day implementation.
A new addition to the Symposium program this year is a special dinner on Monday, Sept. 30, honoring more than 60 winners of the 2013 CLO Learning In Practice Awards. Sponsored by Saba and Interactive Video Learning, the dinner will feature a keynote address from 2012 CLO of the Year Pat Crull, group vice president and chief learning officer at Time Warner Cable, and after-dinner entertainment by Ken Block and Drew Copeland of the platinum-selling pop group Sister Hazel.
Widely recognized as the premier conference for practitioners of strategic workforce development, the CLO Symposium was named Best Leadership Development Event in 2011 and 2012 by Leadership Excellence magazine.
