The School of Hospitality Business at Michigan State University’s (MSU) Broad College of Business is launching a new management certificate in the business of hospitality.
MSU’s management certificate in the business of hospitality will aim to help students improve their job performance and marketability by mastering the essential practices of hospitality management.
The program aims to provide students will the skills, knowledge and credentials necessary to break into or get promoted within a career field that has income and advancement potential.
The certificate, which is 100 percent online, aims to expand students’ skills and knowledge across a wide range of hospitality areas — from human resources to marketing to law and to information systems.
Students will receive instruction through online technology powered by University Alliance. The online classroom features streaming video lectures with 24/7 access, as well as a variety of interactive tools that connect instructors and participants, including discussion boards, live chat rooms and email.
MSU’s online certificate program is comprised of three eight-week courses: Hospitality Business Operations, Hospitality Business Management and Hospitality Leadership. Presented by campus-based faculty, these professional development programs use a step-by-step approach, as each course builds upon the last.
Open enrollment started Aug. 1, with classes beginning Oct. 1.
