The HR Certification Institute, a certifying body for the HR profession, announced it has launched the Certification Mentor Program, designed to provide aid to individuals in the HR profession who wish to enhance their career growth and development by earning credentials from the Institute.
The program will pair those who currently hold Professional in Human Resources (PHR), Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), Global Professional in Human Resources (GPHR) or California certification (PHR-CA/SPHR-CA) credentials with individuals who have taken an HR certification exam but have not successfully earned certification.
The goal of the Certification Mentor Program, which has been developed by the Institute on a virtual platform powered by Chronus, is to help develop and prepare those involved in the profession and to provide them with learning, networking and professional relationship-building opportunities, according to Amy Dufrane, chief operating officer for the Institute.
In addition to assisting interested HR professionals to prepare for a certification exam, the Certification Mentor Program is designed to provide current and potential certified HR professionals with another avenue to expand their professional network.
The program is a six-month interaction between mentors and mentees that will take place primarily on a virtual mentoring platform; however, participants are encouraged to communicate using other forms, including private email, telephone, Skype, social media and chats.
Currently certified professionals who serve as mentors for the Certification Mentor Program will receive recertification credit for their participation in the program. Certified HR professionals can earn 2.5 general recertification credit hours in the leadership category per match relationship. Five credit hours can be awarded per year or a maximum of 10 credit hours can be rewarded within one three-year recertification cycle.
